Still blessed to be teaching after all these years, 1973-2020, yes! The classroom is the heart of education because of that sacred personal interaction between Teacher and each Student. Everything else in education (curriculum. assessment, legislation, budgets, etc) ultimately should support students’ academic achievement, personal growth, and their unique dreams. I have taught in a large district (SDUSD) in a comprehensive HS to now, a charter, The Preuss School UC San Diego, for low income children to be first generation college bound, as I was long ago. I earned NBCT, ELA recognition, 1995-2015, 1990 CA TOY, and was honored as 1990 National Teacher of the Year by Pres. George HW Bush and Barbara Bush at the White House with all my family from Hawaii and California to meet them! Teaching truly has been a privilege, an inspiration, and a blessing. I would love to share my perspective in a unique panorama of my time as a teacher. I hope to continue to be a bearer of light, knowledge, and love to everyone I meet.
