Erica Boomer is the driving force of the Agricultural Education and FFA Program (Future Farmers of America – Career Technical Student Organization) at Upper Lake High School. She started the program in 2005 as a result of her senior project at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. As an alumni of Upper Lake High, she has a passion for the community and has deep roots in agriculture that began with her family ranch in neighboring Witter Springs, CA. Her passion and commitment to teaching the Ag Education Mission of “preparing students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems” are experienced by students everyday in her classes.

Mrs. Boomer has revitalized the wood and metal shops, created a school farm, brought in a CA Partnership Academy program related to alternative energy and sustainable agriculture, all for the purpose of bringing hands-on, career technical education opportunities for her students. Her passion and drive for student success are evident in all that she does both in and out of the traditional classroom setting.

One of her favorite aspects of teaching is the time she spends with students helping them prepare for FFA speaking contests, Career Development Events (CDE’s), livestock exhibitions and traveling the state attending leadership conferences. She lives by the FFA Motto of “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve.”
